Distributed vs Centralized-Do You Have a Dog in this Fight?
Perhaps you don’t realize it but we all have a Dog in this Fight. As the issue of renewables moves forward the fight becomes clear. When it comes to Electricity the issue of Distributed vs Centralized is and will be a pivotal issue. Historically, in our lopsided system energy has been produced in a central location. This paradigm produces what we know as “vested interests”. Now that “climate change” (yes, I know a debatable issue) has caused many to become concerned with abandoning fossil fuels (Coal and Oil) a true “dog fight” is underway. A story posted by John Farrell that I recently read points that out clearly. Lives and life styles are at stake, not to mention civilization itself (My opinion).
One of the main problems in this “fight” is that the media (MSM) here in the United States, because it to has become extremely centralized, seems to downplay stories that are positive and over report the negative. A good example of that is the case of Solyndra which recently went bankrupt and caused a national “finger-pointing” media blitz. That led many to question not only photovoltaic technology but also the governments involvement in financing “Alternative Energy”. Yet, if you follow the LA Times you would know that Solyndra was only one failure in a sea of successes. This type of limited and often distorted reporting only tends to support the centralized paradigm that has led to today’s pressing problem of a great disparity in wealth. If you are aware of the 99% movement you know what I’m referring to. I might add that the MSM avoided reporting on the movement until it had no choice and even then we can see that the reporting is varying depending on the outlook of those reporting.
As technologies evolve we can see that the “centralized” system will not work when Solar Electrical Generation with PV Panels is involved. So the fight between “Dirty Energy” and “Clean Energy” in the “Centralized vs Distributed” ring will continue as far as I can see. What’s Your Take???
